Founded in 1905, in the Swedish town of Borås, Boråstapeter is renowned across the world for bringing Swedish heritage to every home with beautifully crafted designs. Boråstapeter’s team of designers use a range of art mediums to produce a stunning variety of wallpaper designs, taking inspiration from emerging design trends, bygone cultures and Boråstapeter’s rich design archive. Traditional and modern printing techniques are used to create the wallpaper, from the oldest surface printing press to sate-of-the-art digital printing. Boråstapeter has all its production facilities in Sweden, with the process of creating and making wallpapers still taking place today in the town of Borås.

In this thoughtfully designed bedroom, the wallpaper envelopes the space with its intricate, dense-leaf design. Dark green and near-black hues paired with intricate foliage designs evoke a fairy tale quality. By combining this deep, rich palette with organic, flowing patterns, the room becomes an immersive escape, capturing the essence of a secret, enchanted garden.

This space feels harmonious and relaxed with a classic Swedish design aesthetic of muted colours, soft textures and unassuming furnishings. If you want a fail-safe hack to achieve a cohesive colour-cordinated finish, select one of the mid-hues in the wallpaper colour palette to match paint for your woodwork trims, window frames and doors. It will almost always give you a much smarter finish than if you stick to traditional white.

Above: Nora

This elegantly understated bedroom exudes Scandinavian charm, with a stripped pine bed, simple night-stand and finished with plain white and striped linens. The room is decorated with  ‘Nora’ – a wallpaper inspired by the delicate elegance of turn-of-the-century interior design. Drawing on the refined grace of the Art Nouveau era, it features an intricately stylised lattice motif. The calming blue background, complemented by subtle beige detailing, is the perfect combination for a warm and inviting setting.

Imagine a lazy Sunday morning curled up on this corner sofa under the window overlooking the garden. The atmosphere is cozy, relaxed and comforting with squishy furnishings and this beautifully coloured wallpaper in green with hints of rusty red, set against a midnight blue background. Bringing to mind a fruit orchard at midnight, it adds a rich and complex loveliness to the surrounding space.

Above:  Bloomsterhav

With a soft grey backdrop and wild flowers blending warm and cool multicoloured hues, ‘Bloomsterhav’ brings a sense of tranquility and classic Swedish elegance. Designed by Noomi Spange, this pattern is inspired by a flourishing summer meadow, featuring a delicate interplay of flowers, foliage, and fruit. Here, in this country kitchen, its informal charm is reflected by the presence of freshly cut flowers, thriving potted plants, and a dog quietly resting in the window seat, creating a space that feels both alive and intimately connected to nature.

Above:  Rabatt

We adore this joyful little alcove, with it’s cheerful artwork and Scandi-red painted chest of drawers! The wallpaper sets the tone for a vibrant burst of energy and positivity. Designed by Cecilia Pettersson, ‘Rabatt’ captures the cheery essence of a blooming flowerbed, inspired by the abundant beauty of summer gardens. The undulating formations of flowers bring a sense of movement and life, while the traditional collagraph technique lends a tactile quality whilst delivering warmth, nostalgia, and a touch of artistic craftsmanship to the space.

Above: Under The Elder Tree

From afar, this wallpaper presents a soft, undulating pattern that flows effortlessly around the room, creating a gentle rhythm. However, closer inspection reveals a wealth of delightful details—in amongst the branches and leaves, the quiet drama of the forest floor. This interplay of subtlety and detail gives the design an unexpectedly playful character, adding an elegant layer of storytelling to your walls.

Above:  Midsummer Eve

Imagine a perfect Swedish countryside attic bedroom on Midsummer’s Eve, where the shutters are thrown open wide, inviting the long rays of the midnight sun to illuminate the attic’s wood-panelled, sloped ceilings. In this enchanting little room, the backdrop is the nostalgic wallpaper, a romantic tribute to a beloved Swedish tradition, the age-old Midsummer’s Eve custom of picking flowers and placing them under pillows to dream of future loves. What could possible be more dreamy?!

Above: Rosenvinge

This delicate yet impactful pattern is perfect for hallways and entrance halls – the spaces that serve as the connections between areas of a home. With its small-scale design, it offers an ideal solution for narrow passages that sometimes lack personality. Inspired by the most exquisite original Renaissance wallpaper, discovered on the walls of a beautiful old building with a fascinating history. ‘Rosenvinge’ incorporates a beautifully detailed tapestry style pattern, with carefully crafted roses and vines.

Above: Trädgårdsstaden

In interior design few elements possess the power to evoke nostalgia and tranquility quite like vintage (or vintage style) wallpaper. ‘Trädgårdsstaden’ wallpaper, with its traditional Swedish roots, is a sweet homage to timeless elegance. Set against a soft pastel blue background, this design offers a calm and classic aesthetic reminding us of simpler times.
