Colour simplicity comes to classic arts & crafts in the Morris Pure collection
Less is Morris
Morris & Co’s Pure wallpaper collection is Morris with a pinch of minimalism, presenting eight fabulous Arts & Crafts designs in a range of subtle neutral colourways that will work in any contemporary interior.
At a time of mechanisation and industry, Arts & Crafts designs celebrated nature. The movement put huge value on the skill and craft of production, which they saw as an extension of the work of the designers who could take designs from pencil sketches to final wood block masters for printing.
The Pure collection has pared back and re-worked some of Morris’s most enduring designs, still based on the original wood blocks and using printing techniques like flexography and gravure to faithfully echo the qualities of the original wallpapers.
Pure Acorn intertwines willow leaves with oak leaves and acorns.
Pure Willow Bough gets a whole new treatment including leaves in silver ink.
Pure Sunflower reproduces the distressed texture of the original blocks, combining sunflowers with grapes and leaves.
Pure Poppy’s scooped leaves and flowers are a clean, monochrome re-interpretation of Morris’s 1881 original.
