A visit to Top Drawer/Home
Recurring themes kept popping up all around the show. Here’s my hot trending tips…
Look out for faux fur, luxurious fabrics like velvets and textured, plush wallcoverings. Think boutique hotel quirky luxury.
Whimsical patterns, playful humorous prints and fairytale-inspired design are big this year. Think Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson.
Animals prints are still very popular especially on cushions.
Soft geometrics with the mid-century modern vibe for wallpapers and fabrics and graphic photomuralism turning interior walls into marvellous marble and cool concrete.
Wood. Naturally finished oaks, limes and cherries. Simple, elegant, and will last forever.
Metallics – still in vogue – warm coppers and golds, stars, foils and beads – all that glitters…
Great to see old friends like Marimekko, Mini Moderns and Ella Doran, and to meet so many great new designers.
Next stop Germany for Heimtextil, then Paris. Watch this space…
Showtime!
The trade shows have started in earnest so it’s an exciting time for our team searching out the latest trends for our lovely customers. We love the shows, which is just as well as we’ll be schlepping around miles of exhibition spaces. Comfy (and naturally, fashionable) shoes are a must! First stop – Top Drawer Home and Craft at Olympia, London. A great big light-filled space under a huge, elaborate Victorian roof.
