All our made to measure curtains and blinds are carefully crafted by expert makers in the UK. We use both local home-worker seamstresses, whom we have worked with for many years, alongside workrooms whom we visit regularly. There is attention to detail and quality control every step of the way, right up to the final packing and courier delivery. Wherever you are in the world our curtains and blinds will reach you in ready-to-hang condition because we take the greatest care in packaging for delivery. Any visible creases should disappear within a few days of hanging.

Curtains – choosing your heading

All our curtains are made to your measurements and fully lined. They have mitred corners, are weighted with lead weights and come ready to hang. The first decision to make is to choose which heading you would like and we have helped by showing you how the fabric will look when made up into each style!

How to measure for curtains: Pole/ rail width

The secret to making perfectly tailored curtains starts with accurate measurements. Always measure everything twice!

Measure the width of the curtain track or pole, not the window.  Remember if your track has a centre overlap then you should measure both sections to include this.

Tip: Always use a steel tape when measuring as fabric tapes can stretch.

How to measure for curtains: Length

The finished length is the measurement from the top of the curtain to the bottom of the hem and is entirely dependent on the look you would like to achieve. (Did we already say, always measure everything twice!)

For sill length:

Measure to approximately 0.5cm above the sill to allow clearance.

For below sill length:

Measure to 7.5 – 15cm below the sill, allowing a minimum clearance of 1.5cm above the radiator.

For floor length:

Measure to 1.5cm from the floor, allowing clearance for carpets. Pooled (or puddled) curtains can offer a luxurious look with surplus fabric sitting on the floor, extra length should be added as desired.

Tip: Fit your track or pole before you measure.

Choose your lining:

Quality curtains need to be properly lined and we offer a choice of three neutral colours and an enhanced offer including interlining and dimout lining.

Interlining:

Interlining gives body to finer fabrics and adds a particularly luxurious look to your curtains. It can also help to reduce light damage and block draughts.

Dimout lining:

Dimout products are naturally suited to bedrooms where the ability to control light and temperature levels is important for quality of sleep. They can also be useful in other rooms if strong outside light sources are a problem.

Tip: Delicate fabrics including silks and fine embroidered finishes should always be interlined.

Roman blinds or Roller blinds?

A Roman blind is one where the fabric lies flat when the blind is fully lowered and is raised in linear folds which are stacked in graduated form, known as ‘waterfall’ style. Roman blinds will bring a feeling of warmth, sophistication and style to your home.

Our Roman blinds are made on a specialist high quality track system and come complete with fixing brackets. They have a fixed rotary sidewinder with a choice of chain colour. You will also have a choice of linings.

Roller blinds offer one of the most practical style of window shadings. They are made on a specialist high quality track system, come complete with fixing brackets and have the same finish options of chains and linings as the Roman blinds.

Tip: Measuring carefully is the key to perfectly tailored blinds. Follow our online guides or contact customer services for more advice.

Remember that, if needed, help is at hand from both our customer services and Made to Measure teams.

Step Three

Choose the style, size and finish

Step Four

Place your order!

You should receive your hand-finished curtains in 4-5 weeks and blinds in 3-4 weeks.

Top tip for neat curtain folds:

Once hung, opened curtains can be arranged into neat and even folds by running your (clean!) fingers down the fabric to form even creases. Loosely tie the folds in place with soft fabric ties at the top, middle and bottom and leave for 24-48 hours.
